INCREDIBLE SUCCESS OF “THE BEST OF ITALIAN DESIGN” MEETING IN MIAMI
As every year, in the “Design District” of Miami, the meeting “The best of Italian Design” is held,
organized by the local Chamber of Commerce; the meeting, dedicated exclusively to architects,
“interior designers” and builders, this year registers a particular success thanks to the large
participation and the rich agenda.
THE BEST OF MADE IN ITALY IN FLORIDA
The fourth edition of “Best of Italian Design” presents itself as a unique event,
dedicated to the celebration of the most prestigious brands of our best production in the artistic field,
design and the finest craftsmanship.
Data from the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce say that, in 2022, Italian exports to the U.S.
registered a strong growth (+13%) compared to 2021, reaching the value of about $70 billion, which
represents the best result ever; and in particular, exports of furniture and construction have
reached a record $4 billion, a growth of 18 percent
For many Italian exporters in the “furniture” sector, Miami represents the most important market
American, having now surpassed both New York and Los Angeles; the “Miami Design District” is in fact the
district with the highest concentration of high-end furniture showrooms in the entire U.S. and it is not
therefore a coincidence that this important meeting is being held right here.
A PACKED AGENDA OF EVENTS
After the “Welcome” to the participants by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Tommaso Cardana, and
after a warm greeting from the Consul General of Miami, Michele Misto’, a series of
speeches and panel discussions attended by representatives of the most important Italian companies
in attendance.
Architect Stefano Pujatti, winner of the “Italian Architecture” 2023 Award and president of
ELASTICOFarm, talks about Italian design and the need to create “awareness” about the importance
of sustainability; ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) organizes a roundtable discussion
on the influence of Italian design in the evolution of boat interiors; another roundtable discussion
organized by the IIDA (International Interior Design Association) on new trends in hotel and restaurant interiors.
hotels and restaurants; finally, Istituto Marangoni is asking the Italian companies present to talk about their
business strategies in Florida.
The approximately 150 architects, retailers, interior designers and builders in attendance can then not only
listen to industry experts, but also network and interact with the best of Italian manufacturing
Italy, represented by many exhibitors, including: Kartell, Magniflex, Maestri Artifex, etc.
THE FIRST EDITION OF THE “VIA BRERA” ART COMPETITION HAS TWO WINNERS
For the first time in the U.S., the Italian Maestri Artifex Association, founded in 2020 by Monica Monti and
some of Italy’s most famous master artisans, presents the competition, for students and professionals, on the
theme “Historical Contamination of Artistic Design”; the competition, which involved 1,500 interior
designers, 7 universities and a jury of 5 experts in the field, sees two winners: Ambra
Gadda and Davide Tortora; to the two winners, the Consul General presented a parchment Certificate and a
lithograph stop made by the Del Giudice foundry in Chianti.
Next year’s contest will have as its theme “Modern Interpretation of African Art and Crafts.
African” .
The meeting concluded with a greeting from the sponsors (Trend Group and Aldabra) and refreshments inspired by the
“see you in a year.”
