In the vibrant landscape of Italian-American relations, Andrea Di Giuseppe stands as a unique figure bridging the worlds of international business and public service. As a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies representing Central and North America and a successful entrepreneur, his journey from Rome to Miami exemplifies a modern approach to transnational leadership.

Born in Rome in 1968, Andrea’s American chapter began in 2001 when he moved to the United States, drawn by its business opportunities and streamlined regulatory environment. “The freedom of competition and lighter touch bureaucracy compared to Europe were key factors,” he reflects, highlighting his affinity for Anglo-Saxon business practices where direct action and precise planning drive success.

Today, while serving as President of the Committee on International Trade of the Foreign Affairs Commission, he maintains his role as a major shareholder in a multinational group employing over 4,000 people globally. This dual identity as a politician and entrepreneur has shaped his unique approach to public service, where he proudly manages taxpayer resources with the same care he would his own business investments.

“You have to merge the crafts of Italian diplomacy with the tactical and operational skills of the Anglo-Saxon culture to achieve the very best results,” Andrea explains, describing his philosophy of cultural synthesis. This approach has proven particularly valuable in his political work, where he has tackled challenging issues ranging from supporting incarcerated Italians abroad to uncovering corruption in visa operations—work that has sometimes required him to operate under armed guard due to threats.

Despite his decades in the United States, Andrea maintains deep connections to his Italian heritage while embracing American dynamism. His approach to cultural adaptation is methodical: “Flying is an opportunity to reset my mind to the cultural nuances of the country I will be visiting,” he shares. “I make every effort to remove what I have left behind, opening up to new challenges and turning them into opportunities.”

Andrea’s personal side emerges in his reminiscences about Italy. Like many expatriates, he misses the daily rituals of Italian life, particularly the morning coffee shop visits offering perfect brews and invaluable social connections. His ideal dinner party would feature an eclectic mix of Machiavelli, Giorgia Meloni, and President Trump over a traditional Italian fish fry, revealing his interest in the intersection of historical and contemporary leadership.

Andrea offers pragmatic advice for young Italians contemplating international careers: “Be passionate about your career and completely open-minded about the culture you will be encountering. Going abroad with a closed mind trying to export one’s values will not cut any ice.”

His current focus includes pushing for legislation to improve healthcare access for Italians abroad while continuing his less visible but crucial work of helping Italian citizens navigate bureaucratic challenges. “Most of the work goes unseen and unheard,” he notes, “but it’s about helping countless Italian citizens abroad deal with day-to-day issues.”

Looking ahead, Andrea sees opportunities for Italy to learn from global best practices. “We need to respect every country as we can learn from every country in the world,” he emphasizes. “There is no need to reinvent processes as most have been refined not by a single country but individual ones.”

His journey represents a modern template for international success—one that values cultural adaptability while maintaining strong roots, embraces both business efficiency and public service, and demonstrates how traditional Italian diplomacy can blend with Anglo-Saxon pragmatism to create effective leadership in our globalized world.
